Facial and Neck Liposuction
Facial and neck liposuction can make a dramatic change in the way you look by removing the excess fat and enhancing the definition of your cheeks, chin, and neck. You may be a candidate for the procedure if you exhibit such exercise-resistant and localized fat deposits. The result is a natural, attractive, and artistically contoured facial appearance, which can greatly improve your self-esteem and self-confidence.
In selected patients, Dr. Hoefflin simulataneously performs an elegant fat grafting procedure to augment or enhance particular facial regions. Both procedures are minimally invasive techniques that allow Dr. Hoefflin to sculpt the face and diminish premature signs of aging. The most common areas for fat grafting are the midface, undereyes, cheeks, lips or nasolabial folds.
Liposuction of the face and neck is also frequently performed in combination with other complimentary cosmetic surgery procedures, such as a facelift, cheek or chin implants, buccal fat pad removal, or rhinoplasty to enhance your overall definition and facial appearance.

Dr. Hoefflin performs facial liposuction as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with deep sedation, administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist. The procedure usually takes about one hour, depending upon the desired level of facial sculpting. All operations are performed in fully credentialed and state-of-the-art surgical facilities.
The procedure is performed through several small incisions, which become nearly if not completely invisible in time. Unwanted fat is gently removed using small cannulas to minimize any swelling and bruising. Small and meticulously placed sutures are used to close all incisions.
Patients are directly discharged home with snug elastic dressings, which are worn for the first several days after your procedure. Slight to moderate bruising and swelling are common for several days but can be minimized with head elevation and ice compresses. Self-absorbing sutures are usually absent after one week. A self-massaging protocol is begun several days after your procedure to accelerate the healing process and speed your recovery.
Our patients are surprisingly free of most discomfort due to the long-acting local anesthetic injections and facial nerve blocks. Most patients tell us they feel much better than expected following their surgery and are able to return to work and social activities within several days following surgery. Light exercise can be resumed after several weeks and an unrestricted return to all activities within six weeks.
When performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, the risk of serious problems after a facial or neck liposuction are rare. Most complications are minor, temporary, and can be easily resolved with conservative treatment and time. Specific risks and the suitability of the facial liposuction procedure for a given individual can be determined at the time of consultation. You can reduce your risk of complications by closely following your surgeon’s instructions both before and after surgery.
